Life is what you make it
It’s been a very long time since I put pen to paper on my website. For one reason or another I have had a very busy past few months. There is no doubt, I have an extremely busy life. Between life at Film360 or Stan PR or my MC / Keynote speaking commitments or writing my column for stuff.co.nz - life is crazy. But I love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
I’ve spent some time thinking about parts of my childhood. Some of those memories involved a lot of tears. We were very hard up, I was at school and also working part time at the local BP petrol station, my Mum a solo parent. We lived in a dark, damp & cold 2 bedroom flat in South Auckland and didn't have very much. We had a 14” TV, a two seater couch, no coffee table or stereo. Life was tough, really tough. It is memories like this that make me grounded, memories that make me appreciate what I have today and grateful for the amazing life that I have today.
People often make comment or judge my life and think my home, my car, my life is a reflection of not understanding what poverty or hard times. Ha....Whatever. I know what it is like to live with very little and want for a lot. I don't want for much these days, but I've never ever forgotten where I came from, NEVER. And one thing I know for sure, hard work, drive & determination does pay off.
